Winder Binder Gallery and Bookstore opened as Needful Things on North Market Street in the spring of 1994.

Needful Things added North Market Books in 1999.

In 2005, Needful Things moved to its current location on Frazier Avenue, when its name was changed to Winder Binder Gallery of Folk Art.

In the spring of 2009, Winder Binder purchased next door neighbor A Novel Idea Bookstore.

The store was renamed Winder Binder Gallery and Bookstore in January of 2010.

Winder Binder Gallery and Bookstore represents over 80 artists and has more than 25,000 new, used and antiquarian books.

Winder Binder also produces a number of shows, festivals, book signings and music events throughout the year. The two most popular of these are Art til Dark (www.arttildark.com) and Who-Fest (www.whofest.com).
